Dear sirs,
Let us invite you to participate in the international knowledge contest "Lidice for the 21st Century". The unique knowledge contest organized by the Lidice Memorial, a semi-budgetary organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. The international knowledge contest "Lidice for the 21st Century" aims at supporting interest of young people in modern history and widening their knowledge by substantial and interesting events connected to the WWII period and historical events that followed.
On 8 Jan 2021, the registration of schools will be commenced and 22 Jan 2021 is the starting day of the registration of entrants. The registration is done by sending an application via the internet. The contest consists of two parts: filling in a knowledge test and writing an essay of any genre on the theme set by the organizers. The entrants can answer the test questions step by step in several weeks (till 22 Feb 2021) and use various sources for reference purposes (internet, libraries, archives etc.). The themes of the essay are conceived very widely, not requiring vast encyclopaedic knowledge.
To join the contest, you only need to visit the contest web page www.lidice21.cz, fill in the application form there and read through the description of the contest to learn what to do.
